Would You or Wouldn't You?

A parent on Parent 2 Parent.com Forums posted about this bumper sticker you can put on the cars of people who are illegally parked in handicapped spaces:

handicapped parking sticker

So, would you or wouldn't you?

I am not affiliated with the sellers of this bumper sticker and this post is not meant to support placing stickers on other people's cars!

I would not put a bumper sticker on another person's car. That is actually illegal. Putting a note, and I would buy a product that was a note and not a sticker so that I have something official and not hand written to put on the windshield of someone's car. I personally, would not put something with cursing or that was that angry. I would do a simple statement reminder with the penalty if caught and that the next time the cops will be called.

I understand the anger, and am dealing with this exact situation at my son's school, The MD. School for the Blind. One woman parked without a sticker when she was 9 months pregnant because she could not walk any further and we all understood that. But now people are just parking there even though it is a school where there kids with disabilities that require a handicap spot. My son can't walk into school if we can't park in the spot because it is just too far (sometimes it is too far even from the spot and we need that spot even more.) I asked the school send out a notice to each parent and they have. If it doesn't work, I will put individual notes on the windshield and also put a warning that the next time I will take down there car's plate number and turn that vehicle in. I will not be rude about it but matter of fact.

I agree with you, DP. Stickers can't always be removed so a note is more kind and more legal. There is also the possibility that the person forgot to hang their hanging placard (I've had to go back & hang mine when I forgot).

I have had problems at both schools my daughter has attended. One, the director told parents it was ok for everyone to use the one handicapped space for pick up & dropoff. The other, the school buses blocked the handicapped spaces at pickup time. I ignored the first because we already had conflict, & I regret not sending her note to the police. The second, I did call the police after complaining to the school with no results and the problem did improve after that. Until the next school year!
