There's an urban legend floating around that, scientifically speaking, when compared to birds the Bumble Bee shouldn't be able to fly. Their bodies are big and round and their wings are short, rough, and stubby. Birds, on the other hand, have beautiful, aerodynamic bodies with graceful, sweeping wings. Supposedly, scientists can't fully explain why the Bumble Bee can fly, but it probably has something to do with the fact that Bumble Bees don't care about science. They just like to fly.

This is what able2able.com is about. Special Needs children are more than a diagnosis, behaviors, or labels. Our children can do and be so much more than their appearance suggests. We just need to stop telling ourselves and to stop telling them that they shouldn't be able to so they can't. And we, as parents, caregivers, teachers, and therapists need to adapt. Throw away the cookie cutter and ignore the rules. Change the way we communicate with and teach our children. Change the way we expect our children to communicate and interact with us. Stop expecting a bee to be a bird. And celebrate every precious flutter of your little Bee's wings!

Giveaway (CLOSED): Your Choice of Green Baby/Toddler Care Products from Mrs. Dork!

New to blog giveaways, and a little nervous? Check out able2able's Blog Giveaway FAQ.

2/20: THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED AND THE PRIZE HAS BEEN CLAIMED! DrianaKai, Random.Org selected you as the winner!

No, I'm not being mean. This giveaway is sponsored by the Super Cool Queen of Repurposed Clothing, Mrs. Dork, from from the blog Confessions of a Sewing Dork. If I ever have time to take my sewing machine to couples therapy, I am heading straight to her blog for some fun and inspirational tutorials about reworking old clothes into toys, new clothes, handbags, and myriad other things I could never imagine on my own. (My sewing machine hates me. I know it does, it's told me many times. It makes me cry.) The winner of this giveaway can choose one of three green prize packages:

1) A set of two boys arm or legwarmers. One short, one long, for ages 0 to 5. Perfect is you are potty training a toddler with poor body awareness and want to give them some naked time or be able to quickly see an accident. Also great for some extra insulation during our snow crazy winter of 2010 (either over or under winter clothing). I used a legwarmer on my daughter's arm when she had a PICC (aka a perc) for IV antibiotics at home. It kept her from poking at it and came in handy for keeping the IV tubing out of her reach.

2) A set of two girls arm or legwarmers. One short, one long, for ages 0 to 5. For all of the needs above, or just because they look cute! Both the boys and the girls legwarmers are repurposed from socks purchased new for this giveaway. (My sister said she's seen the same socks at Payless!)

3) Four Reusable No-Paper Towels, made of eco-friendly/antibacterial bamboo terry, and four Flannel/Minky wipes, for all your child's wiping needs (top to bottom). The wipes and towels are all 8 x 8 inches square, machine washable, and very reusable. I've heard of cloth diapers, but this is the first time I've heard of cloth wipes. It makes sense and is better for delicate skin then a terry washcloth. If you are already using cloth diapers, just throw them in with the dirties. If your baby/toddler is a refluxer, has sensitive skin, is prone to rashes, has a scheduled surgery (ugh, antibiotic rash), or if you want to reduce your use of disposable wipes then these can come in handy. Do like the hospitals do - clean up poop with toilet paper then use the cloth wipe. And make sure you pat the skin dry after every use.

Visit Confessions of a Sewing Dork for fun giveaways, cool ideas on repurposing outgrown and thrift stores clothing, a DIY on how to make your own arm/legwarmers, or to see some of the creative things she has done with reusable wipes. If you aren't interested in giveaways or doing it yourself, visit her Etsy shop, Redemption, A Little Closer to Earth.

You have the opportunity to enter this giveaway up to 13 times!!:

For an additional 4 entries: Blog about this giveaway! Your blog post must include links to able2able and to Confessions of a Sewing Dork. Include a link to your blog post in your comment. It is very important that you post a comment for each entry. Why? Because a random number generator will be used to select the winner. Each comment will be numbered by Blogger, and I will use those numbers for the drawing. So if you combine entries into one post all your entries will not be counted. There will be no do-overs! I will verify that the winning entry has met the requirements above, so if your comment for a FB status update is the winning comment then I will want to see that update, etc. If I cannot verify your entry, then all your entries will be removed from the list and the drawing will be repeated.

This giveaway ends at 11:59 pm (CT) on Friday, February 26th. The winner's name will be posted on able2able on Saturday, February 27th and I will also email you. The lucky winner will have until 11:59 pm (CT) Monday, March 1st to contact me.

Please don't critique the picture quality - the winter lighting in Alberta, Canada is temporarily affecting Mrs. Dork's photography.

I would love to win this Giveaway. I would pick the 3rd package. My son is developmentally delayed and is going to be potty training late since he is already 3 and still not walking. I was considering making a switch to cloth bootie wipes to save both money and his hiney and this will give me that chance.

Sewing Dork is an awesomely creative site!
